A chemical peel is a process where a chemical is applied to the skin and penetrates into the outer layers causing a slight peel. The new skin underneath appears smoother and finer in texture.
Fine lines and wrinkles are diminshed as well as some sun-induced brown spots and pre-cancerous lesions. With healing, cosmetically desirable results are achieved.
Chemical peels are classified as superficial, medium, and deep. The strong the acid, the deeper the penetration. Our office performs superficial and medium depth peels. Dr. LoBuono performs the mid depth peels which use trichloroacetic acid (TCA). TCA penetrates deeper than glycolic acid, and TCA peels are usually performed only once, while glycolic acid peels are generally done in a series. The superficial peels are performed by our Registered Nurse.
This office uses Neo-Strata brand glycolic acids. The strength baries from 20% to 70%. With Neo-Strata peels, the patient can expect mild discomfort that quickly diminishes. A series of glycolic peels results in softer skin, the clearing fine lines and wrinkles, more even skin tones, some shrinking of pore size, increased smothness, and an improved natural glow and radiance.
Microdermabrasion is an exfoliation technique for removing the topmost layer of skin, leaving skin more supple and vibrant. The DiamondTome™ Skin Resurfacing System removes this layer by gently exfoliating the skin with natural diamond chips bonded to the tip of the wand, while vacuuming the exfoliated skin cells away in a controlled manner. Removing this outer layer leaves a smoother texture and promotes the growth of healthy new skin.

Patients should see results within days of their treatment, and the appearance of frown lines should continue to improve for up to a week. Visible results can last up to four months, after which further treatment may be required.
Xeomin® is a prescription medication used to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe glabellar lines, frown lines between the eyebrows in adults.
What can I expect during treatment?
During treatment, which usually takes 10-20 minutes, your doctor will inject Xeomin® into the muscles in your forehead that cause frown lines between your brows. No anesthesia is required. Some patients observe visible smoothing as early as 3-4 days after the injection. Maximum effect occurs in about 30 days and lasts 3 months or longer.
The Restylane® family of products, Restylane® and Perlane®, are cosmetic dermal fillers approved by the FDA to sooth away moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Restylane® replaces lost volume and restores youthful contours to the skin.
Restylane® was the first cosmetic filler made from hyaluronic acid that has been modified slightly to last longer than the human body’s own hyaluronic acid. In the human body, natural hyaluronic acid provides volume and fullness to the skin. The Elipse IPL (intense Pulsed light) treatment can remove excessive hair in a variety of areas, including upper lip, chin, legs, bikini area, underarms, back and shoulders.
The Nordlys system permanently reduces unwanted hair by delivering short safe bursts of Elipse IPL directed at the target site. The emitted light is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in your hair. Melanin converts the light into heat, which travels down the hair toward the root. This heats the hair matrix, preventing future growth.
The number of treatments depend on the location and the cycle of your hair and location of your hair because every hair grows for a period of time. You may need to repeat the treatment at intervals until all hair follicles have been treated while growing.
Clinical studies have shown that 3-6 treatments are needed, and typically the intervals between treatments are 1-3 months.
Treatment is most effective on dark hair. Light blond, red, grey, and white hairs may not respond to treatment. Most skin colors can be treated.
Sun Damage and aging can result in a variety of vascular and pigmented lesions, including dark spots, freckles, age spots uneven pigmentation and diffuse redness. The Nordlys Selective Wave Band technology (SWT) an intense pulsed light treatment can rejuvenate your skin producing a younger and fresher look.
Advanced SWT treatment works by delivering short bursts of light that directly target the blood vessels or melanin (pigment) within your skin. SWT take a highly targeted approach to treating excess skin redness and unwanted sunspots and pigment.
You should see an improvement after the first treatment, but up to three treatments may be required to achieve full effect.
